The pirates of Cinque Terre

For my friend Helen, the break up occured on the Amalfi Coast, two months into their European tour. She met another man and was tired of '(Peter's) constant nagging to go home'. For Hassan, he arrived in Moscow with his long term girlfriend and wanted to stay a day longer. she didn't and continued on her journey alone.
A day apart but they never saw each other again.
So minute can be the final division between lovers, so small that whisper of the ending.
When I think of Cinque Terre, I get this flash of memory that includes sounds and smell. The sight of the green vineyards and layered earth is one thing. The first taste of Marzipan is something else. This area is renowned for some things I'm not so keen on: anchovies and olives, but the Marzipan...
First, I need to introduce two brothers (twins) who hail from Sicily and started a wee Restaurant in Vernazza called 'il Pirate del 5 Terre'. One brother is the chef and the other, the clown. While one feeds you, the other will entertain you and their antics will captivate and delight. Honest, and down to earth, there's nothing they won't open up to you and talk about. I cannot recommend the breakfast highly enough. The pastry chef is in his element here and his pastries and croissants make their way through the village, hailing everyone to indulge. Get there early...you cannot miss out...
