As a country, Switzerland has the ability to encompass and lend a freedom of expression to its divided people. Four languages, two religions, the various cantons...Switzerland is united in its quest for neutrality, a quest that has steered her clear of war and economic and political upheaval that has affected much of the world in the past two centuries.
Now, during one of the greatest economic shifts in our lifetime, Switzerland's sweet slumber in economic safety is beginning to show cracks. As a travel destination, Switzerland is a must-see but as Switzerland's rank as premier global financial site, she's taking a beating, thanks to the recent UBS problems with serious hits to its reputation and share price.
The Swiss Federal Banking Commission is now making noises that they foresee a dramatic change in the way Switzerland's banks do business. My question is what kind of Switzerland is going to emerge from the upheaval of new regulations and a stronger EBK arm?
